Bruno Bosteels is Jesse and George Siegel Professor in the Humanities as well as Dean of Humanities in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. He is the author, translator, or editor of more than a dozen books and is currently finishing two new books: Philosophies of Defeat: The Jargon of Finitude (Verso), a polemical engagement with post-Heideggerian “Left” thought in France and Italy, and The State and Insurrections: New Interventions in Latin American Marxist Theory (Pittsburgh).
