Étienne Balibar

Étienne Balibar is a French philosopher and dear friend of the 13/13s. His publications in English include: Reading Capital (with Louis Althusser and al., Verso, 1965); Race, Nation, Class (with Immanuel Wallerstein, Verso, 1988); We, The People of Europe? Reflections on Transnational Citizenship (Princeton University Press, 2003); The Philosophy of Marx (Verso, 2007);  Identity and Difference: John Locke and the Invention of Consciousness (Verso, 2013); Equaliberty: Political Essays (Verso, 2013); and Citizenship (Polity Press, 2015). He is also Emeritus Professor of Philosophy at Université Paris-Nanterre, at UC Irvine, and at Columbia University.
